ALEXANDRA | BLAKE

Alexandra is a beloved & integral member of our AC Team, and her love story with Blake unfolded right in front of our eyes. The way Blake treasures her brings immense joy to us, and we are thrilled to share images from their special day, and bridal journey.

“The actual wedding day goes by so fast, but the experience of getting married is so much more than just one day. I treasure every moment leading up to it — from asking my girls to be my bridesmaids to creating my gown with my incredible team at Anna Campbell.

One of my bridesmaids, Nikki, is someone I met when I first started working at Anna Campbell. Over the years we’ve become so close, and I couldn’t imagine my big day without her by my side. I also invited two former Anna Campbell team members as guests who I’m still very close with, as well as Anna herself and our amazing production team. It meant so much to celebrate with the people who have been such a big part of my life.

I don’t think I truly felt like a bride until the moment Mum and Dad placed my veil over my face and fixed my train before we walked down the aisle together. When I saw my partner waiting for me, I couldn’t hold back the tears — and he was crying just as much as I was. It was such a beautiful and emotional moment.”

Tell us about your journey to the perfect gown:

“Having worked at Anna Campbell for nearly seven years, I’ve helped create so many beautiful gowns for so many brides. When it came time for my own wedding dress, Anna gave me free rein to create whatever I wanted, which was incredibly special. I fell in love with a bodice-style design and loved the idea of being able to customise the look throughout the wedding day. We created a removable draped piece for the bodice that could be styled in different ways — I re-draped it so my arms were free for our first dance, and later removed it completely once the dance floor opened. For the ceremony, I wore a full-length skirt with the most incredible train. Later in the evening, when it was time to dance, I changed into a mini skirt that I covered with lace from my mum’s wedding dress. Being able to incorporate her lace into my reception look made it even more meaningful. I was also lucky enough to be the first bride to try our new personalised veil design, with my partner’s and my initials and our wedding date embroidered along the hem. For my bridal shower, I asked all my friends to create fabric flowers to add to the veil so they could each walk with me down the aisle in their own small way. I also added pieces of fabric from my mum and aunt’s wedding dresses, along with good luck charms that my Grandma and Nanna had given to my mum on her wedding day. I absolutely love how the final dress turned out. It was everything I had imagined, and I haven’t stopped looking at the photos and thinking it’s the best I’ve ever looked! Most importantly, every member of the Anna Campbell team played a part in helping me create it.”

“When you work in bridal, choosing your own wedding dress is much harder than people might think. I’ve tried on countless samples and worked with so many beautiful fabrics that I had no idea where to start. As Production Manager, I’m responsible for the production timeline, and I kept prioritising our brides’ gowns over my own. In fact, my dress design wasn’t even finalised until a month before the wedding! Once I decided on the bodice style, creating the bodice itself was easy. Designing the skirt to match it, however, was much more challenging. I remember one evening staying late at work while I was experimenting with draping on the skirt. Anna was the only other person in the studio, and she helped me try on the bodice with the skirt sample. We both got a little teary because it was the first time I had truly seen my dress come together — my first real “bridal moment,” only a month and a half before the wedding. The draping on the skirt wasn’t working the way I had imagined until Frankie suggested trying a plain front instead. I don’t know why I hadn’t considered it earlier, but it ended up being the perfect balance with the detailed bodice. Our incredible production team then helped bring everything together — finishing the skirt, adding the final draping details to the bodice, and completing my alterations. I also made a mini skirt for the reception and wanted to add lace from my mum’s wedding dress. Two weeks before the wedding, when Mum came in for my final fitting, Kayla helped her pin the lace to the skirt so Mum could take it home and sew it on. If I had my time again, I would probably still leave my own dress until the last minute — but the final design was exactly what I had imagined.”

“The ceremony was the moment I was most looking forward to, and it ended up being my favourite part of the day. The weather was perfect, the location was beautiful, and the flowers were exactly what we had dreamed of. I remember looking around at our family and friends and seeing how happy they were for us, which made the moment even more special. We had our Maid of Honour and Best Man give their speeches during the ceremony, and they were the perfect balance of heartfelt and funny. Then came a moment we’ll never forget. Just as the celebrant announced it was time to sign the wedding certificate, a gust of wind blew it straight into the lake! It felt especially ironic since my partner and I both love swimming, but we were the last people who could jump in to retrieve it. Thankfully it was in a plastic sleeve, so it only suffered a little water damage — and luckily some of our guests were able to rescue it!”
