The First “Yes”
When The Wedding Studio Berkshire opened its doors in June 2024, Emily couldn’t have predicted how special her very first bride would be. Charlotte’s “yes” wasn’t just the start of her bridal journey — it marked the beginning of Emily’s dream becoming real.
We sat down with Emily to revisit that unforgettable moment, what it meant to her as a new business owner, and how it continues to shape every bride’s experience at TWSB today
Emily, you mentioned that Charlotte was your very first bride to say “yes” at TWSB — tell us about that moment.
She was indeed — my very first ‘yes’, on my opening Saturday back in June 2024. I’ll never forget it.
It was one of those pinch-me moments where all the months of planning, stress, and dreaming suddenly felt worth it. I was so over the moon, and when Charlotte & her family left, I was literally shaking with joy (and nerves)!
It was the first time I thought that maybe, just maybe, this little dream of mine could actually work.
The studio hadn’t even opened yet when you met her — what do you remember most about that first conversation and her appointment?
Charlotte was attending a venue open day that I happened to be at. The studio hadn’t opened yet, and I literally had one dress on loan from a designer to showcase on a mannequin!
I remember Charlotte popping over to ask a few questions about where to even begin with dress shopping, and we just hit it off straight away. We had such a lovely chat about wedding planning in general.
They were still in the early stages and hadn’t even chosen a venue yet, but I remember feeling so excited when, later that afternoon, she booked an appointment for my opening weekend.
When Charlotte walked in for her appointment, it felt like a good friend stepping into the studio — I think we both instantly felt at ease.
The Finley gown clearly felt so right for Charlotte. What was it about that dress that made it “the one”?
To me, the Finley gown represents quiet elegance with timeless modernity, and I think it celebrated Charlotte in all the best ways.
As soon as the curtain was pulled back, it was just so clear to us all. It made Charlotte feel amazing yet comfortable — something I strive for with every single one of my brides. And let’s be honest, those petal sleeves are the most beautiful cherry on the cake! Everyone just loved it.

You wrote that her ‘yes’ gave you faith in your dream. Can you share what that moment meant to you personally, as a new business owner taking that leap?
Starting your own business is scary — especially when you’re coming from a place of pure passion rather than years of industry experience. The stakes were high, and naturally, I had so many doubts. I’d spent years building a career in a world where I never truly fitted in, and in that moment, I finally felt like I was exactly where I was meant to be.
A lot has happened since then! Looking back, if you had one thing to tell yourself at that specific time when you started the business, what would it be?
Oh gosh, so much has happened since then! I’ve learnt so much and, thankfully, shared so many more amazing moments with my gorgeous brides.
The one thing I’d tell myself is to stay true to your vision and trust the process. Keep working hard, keep being you, and stay authentic to what you set out to create — do that, and the brides you’re looking for will find you.
Looking back now, how has that first experience shaped the way you approach your brides and your studio today?
Charlotte’s experience reinforced that connection is everything. I want every bride who walks through The Wedding Studio Berkshire’s doors to feel seen, understood, and completely at ease — like you’re coming to see a friend who only has your best interests at heart. That sense of trust and warmth is still at the centre of everything I do at TWSB.
And finally, if Charlotte were reading this — what would you want to say to her?
Well, I’m sure she will, because she continues to support TWSB to the fullest — and for that, I’m so grateful. So, Charlotte…I am beyond thrilled that your day turned out to be everything you dreamed of and more. Thank you for trusting me, even before my doors had properly opened, and for letting me play a small part in your story. You’ll never know what your “yes” meant to me that day. 🤍
